Responsibilities
- Set and drive the technical strategy for payments optimization that balances conversion, fraud risk, and transaction cost.
- Take direct technical ownership of complex, cross-functional problems.
- Bring technical direction on optimization methods like contextual bandits and experimentation techniques such as A/B testing and causal inference.
- Work with engineering to build the tools and infrastructure needed for optimization and ship ML systems to production.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Risk to shape strategy and investment decisions.
- Coach junior data scientists and engineers.
What you need
- Holds a PhD or master's degree in a quantitative field such as economics, computer science, statistics, or engineering.
- 5+ years working professionally in data science or applied machine learning.
- Track record of using experimentation and causal inference to drive real product decisions.
- Strong command of SQL and Python or R.
- Experience using LLMs or AI agents to improve workflows or ML models.
Good to have
- Extensive experience shipping ML systems into production is a strong plus.
