Responsibilities
- Leads the technical direction for core risk services such as real-time detection, decision engines, and risk tooling, keeping them reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient.
- Designs and evolves the architecture for distributed, event-driven risk systems.
- Owns complex initiatives end to end, from design through implementation, rollout, and improvement.
- Writes production code in Java and Spring Boot directly and leads design reviews and architecture discussions.
- Works with data and ML teams to bring models and rules into production systems to improve detection.
- Coaches and mentors other engineers to help them grow.
What you need
- Has 10+ years of back-end engineering experience, including substantial time running complex distributed systems in production.
- Has deep experience with risk, fraud, or fintech systems in high-stakes domains such as payments, banking, or trading.
- Is strongly proficient in Java, including multi-threading and high-performance networked service design.
- Has hands-on experience with event-driven architecture, distributed system design, caching, and resiliency patterns.
- Can work with Spring or Spring Boot and build tools such as Gradle or Maven.
- Holds a university degree in computer science or an adjacent field, or brings equivalent hands-on experience.
Good to have
- Experience with risk-specific components such as rule engines, feature stores, model serving, or real-time stream processing is a plus.
- Experience with machine learning in production, including model lifecycle and evaluation metrics, is a plus.
- Experience with modern data and storage technologies such as Cassandra, Redis, Kafka, Flink, or Spark is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Kotlin, Scala, Python, or Golang is a plus.
- Cloud experience with Alibaba Cloud, AWS, or GCP is a plus.
