Responsibilities
- Provide software and system engineering support for OEM and ODM customers.
- Work with partners to bring Ubuntu up on new hardware.
- Team up with project managers and field or QA engineers to find and fix key issues.
- Find and apply patches for bugs in upstream open source projects.
- Trace problems back to their root cause and document how to reproduce them.
- Bridge communication between the Ubuntu, firmware, and hardware engineering teams.
What you need
- Holds a bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM field.
- Can work with C, Python, and Bash.
- Understands the Linux kernel, boot process, and system-level architecture.
- Has experience building bootloaders such as u-boot.
- Has developed software on Arm or non-x86 platforms.
- Can travel to Taiwan, China, the US, and Europe for work.
Good to have
- Has worked with system firmware such as UEFI, ACPI, or DSDT.
- Has debugged power management issues before.
- Has done board design and validation work.
- Understands computer architecture such as x86, ARM, or RISC-V.
- Can read, write, and speak Mandarin Chinese.
