What you will do
We rewrote the responsibilities and qualifications in plain language instead of copying the original posting.
Responsibilities
- Ship animator-facing tools built on techniques like motion synthesis, matching and blending, retargeting, and physics-based control of characters.
- Work alongside animators and tech artists to cut the time spent on costly keyframing, cleanup, and retargeting tasks.
- Set up evaluations that judge motion quality, things like naturalness, foot-sliding, and responsiveness, and measure the time it saves animators.
- Keep an eye on new work in motion generation and character control, then decide what will hold up on production rigs given runtime budgets.
What you need
- Hold a master's or doctorate in a quantitative field such as computer science, statistics, or mathematics, and specialize in machine learning, data science, or AI.
- Have deep expertise in animation ML, covering physics-based control, reinforcement learning for characters, motion synthesis and matching, and retargeting.
- Have 5+ years applying ML to real-world problems, with a record of delivering end-to-end animation ML solutions.
- Can show state-of-the-art work through publications, open-source contributions, or shipped production systems.
- Are proficient in Python, C, C++, or C#, with strong hands-on experience in PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
- Have hands-on experience with generative models such as motion diffusion, VAEs, and transformer-based motion models.
Good to have
- Can explain complex technical ideas clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Have led or mentored junior engineers and interns across cross-functional teams.
- Bring some background in games or a similar industry.
